Led by spoken word and voiceover artist Grace Angela Henry, the program will begin with a tour of the Beatrix Farrand Garden, located on the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt Historic Site in Hyde Park. Beatrix Farrand was the first professional woman landscape gardener in America, and in 1899, one of the founding members of the Society for Landscape Architects. During the tour, we’ll discuss this legendary landscape gardener’s career, the plantings, and the history of Bellefield–her oldest surviving residential work, completed in 1912–and then enjoy some time to respond artistically to the space. Materials and snacks provided. Bring your own bag lunch and enjoy it al fresco in the garden!
