Christmas In The Gilded Age – Presentation & Christmas Cracker Craft Workshop

Staatsburgh State Historic Site staff, Maria Reynolds and Pam Malcolm, will offer a brief description of Christmas traditions in the Gilded Age, then lead participants in making a Christmas cracker, a traditional British gift that was also popular in the American Gilded Age. Participants (age 12 to adult) can create a cracker to give as a gift. Crackers are pulled apart with a crack, to reveal small presents inside. You can bring your own special (small) presents to place in your cracker, or use the ones we provide.
