Reflections: Staatsburg - A Collection of Interviews with Community Members

October 29, 2019

This collection of interviews with local residents offers a glimpse of life in Staatsburg during the early to mid-1900’s. Tales of encounters with Roosevelts, Mills, Hoyts, and Norries are intermixed with the realities of the Depression and the strength of a close knit community. Narrators recall what it was like to play all summer on the river; go to school in the original wooden schoolhouse, and work on the thriving Great Estates that lined the Hudson in this once bustling village. From these poignant, and sometimes humorous, memories we are reminded of the meaning of “home” in its most universal sense. Combined, the stories help us to recognize what is really important, no matter where we live.

Join us as Judy Linville presents her oral history of Staatsburg accompanied by historic photographs.

At this third meeting we will discuss :

Our hope is that over six sessions we can address different aspects of climate change; identify clear and reliable sources of information about the status of climate change; identify global efforts to address it; identify the local impacts and actions that we can take as individuals and organizations; identify resources we access to continue this effort.

If you would like a copy of the materials we will be discussing in advance of the meeting please email staatslibrary@gmail.com and we will send you a copy.
