November 4, 2019A writing group for parents, caregivers, family members and educators of children with special needs. This is a safe space to share and explore thoughts and feelings! This group meets regularly at the library throughout the year and is facilitated by Diana Rush, a writer and parent. Diana will help participants use writing as a means to sort through some of the unique challenges and victories of parenting and working with these special kids. Everyone is welcome and no writing experience is necessary

November 6, 2019This female folk trio from upstate New York, Quebec, and Louisiana performs a broad range of regional music from blues-tinged grooves to Celtic sounds. The Malvinas offer tight harmonies and quirky instrumentation for high-energy fun for the whole family.
This event will be held at the Taconic Regional Office Auditorium (Old Staatsburg School) 9 Old Post Road, Staatsburg This event is free.

Join us and the Hyde Park Library in reading, discussing and evaluating this year’s crop of fantastic and beautiful books. Nominated Books are available for review at your convenience in the Staatsburg Library Program Room or order your copies from the library catalog. Meetings alternate location between Hyde Park and Staatsburg Libraries. THIS MEETING IS AT THE STAATSBURG LIBRARY

Community Conversations about Climate Change: Global Problem, Local Impacts

November 19, 2019This Month we will be joining the Staatsburg Library Book Club to discuss the book The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells.
A healthy environment is essential to strong, thriving neighborhoods. Join us for a down-to-earth Community Conversation about Climate Change, how it is impacting Staatsburg, Hyde Park & the Hudson Valley, and what we can do individually and collectively about our rapidly changing world. This forum for community discussions are a collaborative effort between the Staatsburg Library and St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church and will be facilitated by David McNary.
At this third meeting we will discuss :Our hope is that over six sessions we can address different aspects of climate change; identify clear and reliable sources of information about the status of climate change; identify global efforts to address it; identify the local impacts and actions that we can take as individuals and organizations; identify resources we access to continue this effort.
