Lunchtime Learning at the Beatrix Farrand: Beginner Ikebana With Meei-Huey LinLunchtime Learning at the Beatrix Farrand: Beginner Ikebana With Meei-Huey Lin –
This beginner's lecture will provide an overview of the basic principles of the art of Japanese flower arranging, taking inspiration from the fall blooms at the Beatrix Farrand Garden. Ikebana, which emphasizes lines and curves, focuses on the careful placement of branches and a few flowers. The results of the arrangement look quiet, simple, and elegant. Arranging flowers has always been meditative and a great way to manage stress. Meei-Huey Lin has been teaching ikebana classes of various levels from beginner to teacher’s certification for many years, including at Bard's Lifetime Learning Institute. She founded the Sogetsu Ikebana group (and has been teaching group classes to members since 2016). She and her students have exhibited at the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show and Japan House in Philadelphia.
