We are continuing to collect personal hygiene items, non perishable food items and scarves & hats throughout the winter to be distributed by the Hyde Park Food Pantry.Items Needed:
Shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent, diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, deodorant, AND non perishable food items.
Winter scarves, hats and gloves too!All items can be dropped off at the library

Even during the best of times, living alone can be isolating. In an effort to ease some of the loneliness members of our community are experiencing we are collecting notes and cards to be distributed through Meals On Wheels of Hyde ParkThis project is a partnership between the Staatsburg Library, Starr Library, the Morton Memorial Library, Rhinebeck Responds, and the Pollinator Patrol Club.
Make your own card, draw a picture, write a note on a greeting card or pick up blank notecards from the library.
If you need supplies to make or decorate your cards, stop by the library and we can provide you with what you need. -

About TMI Project Workshops
TMI Project workshops help writers identify the “too-much-information” parts of their stories, the parts they usually leave out because they’re too ashamed or embarrassed. We lead writers through a creative process that allows them to share their most personal stories in a compelling, effective, and empowering narrative. We aim to incite positive social change by providing writers with the skills needed to be captivating live storytellers, and by amplifying the voices of populations whose stories often go unheard.Workshop Leader EVA TENUTO
EVA TENUTO is the co-founder and executive director of TMI Project. Since 2010, she has brought TMI Project from her living room to a host of performance spaces, schools, detention centers, mental health facilities and the United Nations. Eva is the editor and director of multiple solo shows, one of which was awarded Best Comedic Script of 2014 in the United Solo Festival. In 2018, her directorial film debut, Vicarious Resilience, a docu short, celebrated its world premiere at The Woodstock Film Festival. Eva’s own true stories have been published on Longreads.com and in numerous anthologies including Drinking Diaries, Goodbye to All That and others. Eva studied acting at American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She received a BA in Fine Art and Women’s Studies and an MA in Elementary Education, both from Hunter College. Facilitated by Lucy Barbera, Ph.D., Director of The Creative Art Therapy StudioParticipants will explore thoughts and feelings about the future and create a piece of original art. Participants can choose to submit their work to the Community Star Art Project* for a group art show & art contest.
Art supplies will be provided for participants.*The Community Star Art Project is a call for youth and adults to submit artwork that reflects a message of hope, interdependence, and community engagement. It is an opportunity to think critically about collective experiences with the pandemic, and how we might spark joy and motivation to care for our neighbors. Through art exhibits artists’ creative expression will light up the lives of local nursing home residents through the long winter months.

Using period photographs and historic artifacts, staff will discuss significant buildings and highlight hidden locations in the hamlet that demonstrate Staatsburg's vibrant past and the lasting legacy of Ruth and Ogden Mills beyond the estate walls.
Staatsburgh, the Gilded Age home of Ruth and Ogden Mills, has always had a close relationship with the nearby hamlet of Staatsburg. The Hudson River estate was an industry in itself – providing steady employment for generations of local families. In return, Ruth, Ogden, and their children gave back to their adopted home-community. At the turn of the century, the hamlet of Staatsburg was a thriving hub of businesses and manufacturing, fueled by these landed estates and the modernizing nation.
This program will run approximately a half-hour and is open to all ages. Register now - spaces are limited! Attendees will receive special instructions on accessing the digital event upon sign-up.

Join Michael Norris, Ph.D., on Thursday, January 21st at 6:30pm, as he guides us through The Middle Ages and Other Surprises in North Manhattan, as well as a Virtual Stroll Through the Medieval Masterpieces of the Met’s Cloisters.
