Led by NPS rangers, horticulturists, librarians, and artists, each event will take place at the Beatrix Farrand Garden, located on the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt Historic Site in Hyde Park. During the weekend of June 17th-19th, visit the Beatrix Farrand Garden for a very special StoryWalk® in the garden! Then join Staatsburg Library's Children's Librarian Lisa Prentiss for a colorful storytime and scavenger hunt. StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. This year's featured story at the garden is If You Plant A Seed by Kadir Nelson. If you Plant a Seed weaves a simple tale about the benefits of kindness and generosity and the consequences of acting selfishly. With beautiful illustrations and sparse text, author Kadir Nelson masterfully conveys the power each one of us has to act in ways that help our community. Bring a blanket/lawn chairs and a lunch to enjoy in the garden after the program!
