Hyde Park Teachers Association
Read Across Hyde Park
Fundraiser for Local Libraries
February 1 - March 31

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!
The Hyde Park Teaches Association annual fundraiser to support local libraries is off to the races. This year they are hosting the first ever
READ ACROSS HYDE PARK.
Every book read will count toward the goal of raising funds to benefit the 3 libraries in the Hyde Park School District - the Hyde Park Library, the Staatsburg Library & the Clinton Library. Our libraries provide resources and services that support the HPCSD community, teachers, students and families.

The virtual challenge begins at the FDR Presidential Library starting line, heads to the Hyde Park Library, works its way to the Staatsburg Library, rounds the final bend at the Clinton Library and crosses the finish line back at the FDR Library.

Every book read will count towards our fundraising goal and bring us closer to the finish line.

A $10.00 registration fee gets you in the race, or you can choose to make a donation to help us meet our fundraising goals.

This program will explore the relationship between Staatsburgh, the estate, and Staatsburg, the hamlet – note the different spellings, the village dropped the final “H” in the 1890s! Using period photographs and historic artifacts, staff will discuss significant buildings and highlight hidden locations in the hamlet that demonstrate Staatsburg's vibrant past and the lasting legacy of Ruth and Ogden Mills beyond the estate walls.

Staatsburgh, the Gilded Age home of Ruth and Ogden Mills, has always had a close relationship with the nearby hamlet of Staatsburg. The Hudson River estate was an industry in itself – providing steady employment for generations of local families. In return, Ruth, Ogden, and their children gave back to their adopted home-community. At the turn of the century, the hamlet of Staatsburg was a thriving hub of businesses and manufacturing, fueled by these landed estates and the modernizing nation.

This program will run approximately a half-hour and is open to all ages. Register now - spaces are limited! Attendees will receive special instructions on accessing the digital event upon sign-up.
