In Ladies' Day at the Capitol: New York’s Women Legislators 1919-1992, historian Lauren Kozakiewicz places New York’s elected women officials squarely at the center of the state’s politics and political history. Based on extensive research and interviews, she shows how these women’s careers expand our understanding of what it means, and has meant historically, to be a woman in politics. She will cover some well-known names and ones that may be new to the audience. She will also look at these women’s efforts to create their own political organizations and exert leadership on issues.
Lauren Kozakiewicz has a PhD in American history and holds a combined appointment as Lecturer in History at the University at Albany, SUNY, and liaison for Albany’s University in the High School Program where she collaborates with New York State high schools to develop advanced history offerings for university credit. Ladies Day at the Capitol was recently published by SUNY Press and reflects her research interests in women, politics and New York history. She has also published in the journal New York History and in New York Archives Magazine

Milkweed Seed Stratification & Germination
Program for Adults & Kids - 2 days, 2 libraries!
Help us get ready for planting season!
Learn all about milkweed, stratification & germination from Candace Gallagher.
Most milkweed species planted in North America need a cold moist stratification to encourage spring germination. Cold moist stratification is a technique used to simulate the real-world conditions a seed would receive outdoors after the frozen winter gives way to a warm, wet spring.
