Based on extensive research and interviews, she shows how these women’s careers expand our understanding of what it means, and has meant historically, to be a woman in politics. She will cover some well-known names and ones that may be new to the audience. She will also look at these women’s efforts to create their own political organizations and exert leadership on issues. Lauren Kozakiewicz has a PhD in American history and holds a combined appointment as Lecturer in History at the University at Albany, SUNY, and liaison for Albany’s University in the High School Program where she collaborates with New York State high schools to develop advanced history offerings for university credit. Ladies Day at the Capitol was recently published by SUNY Press and reflects her research interests in women, politics and New York history.
